The Word of 2025 Is… Fractional

It’s only May, but from what I’m hearing from experts, I already know what the word of the year for 2025 should be.

Fractional.

We’ve already seen a surge of professionals seeking fractional opportunities and organizations seeking fractional talent – and these trends aren’t likely to stop any time soon, with the benefits fractional work provides:

– For professionals, doing fractional work means choosing job flexibility over security. It frees them up to do intentional, purpose-driven work that aligns with their values.

– For organizations, employing fractional talent means enjoying the massive cost-savings (in challenging market conditions) of NOT hiring a C-level executive full-time, and instead deploying an expert to work on strategic, impact-based initiatives that focus on delivery, not hours worked.

With fractional, everyone wins. Experienced professionals get flexibility and freedom of choice, and organizations get top-notch expertise and strategy at a low cost.

“Fractional” may not be the official word of 2025, but for many businesses, it’s swiftly becoming an important part of their vocabulary.
